I’ve been lucky and courageous enough to do many solo trips across India and in few foreign lands as well. It only only boosted my confidence but also made me a bit carefree when it came to planning my trips.
Loaded with work due to financial year closing, I decided to sin (yeah I consider it to be a sin for a traveller to use travel agencies) and went to a trip planner for Georgia trip on my birthday in April 2024.
The guy from the travel company was handling everything pretty well and I just had to give him the basic documents and the money (of course) for the bookings and visa. He booked my flights and accommodation and applied for the visa as well and I was so excited to see the beautiful country especially on my birthday.
Well, destiny had different plans, two days after the bookings he called me and said your visa got rejected. I was heartbroken! There’s only 2% chance of your visa getting rejected and I fell under that.
Anyway, I had no time to get mad or upset and the guy being sweet made sure that all my booking amount was refunded in time.
It’s already 22nd and I’m nowhere close to making my birthday special. Then an article popped on my phone stating the list of visa free countries and bam! Thailand was on the list. I booked my flights immediately and convinced my boss (more so- told him that I’m going. He’s a nice person)
I always have a bag packed with all the basics for such situations so I closed my day at work around 6, reached home around 8, picked up everything I could get my hands on and ran to the airport.
After boarding I realised that I’ll have to show hotel bookings at immigration so did my booking right before taking off. Wooff!!! Whatta day!
Finally, I welcomed my birthday in the flight and a beautiful sunrise woke me up while I landed in the magical city of Bangkok.
Stay tuned for my next story on how a spa day with my best friend turned into a surprise trip.
